How biometric attendance systems work
How the Citadel biometric time & attendance system works.
How biometric fingerprint attendance works
Biometric attendance systems have become increasingly popular over the last few years. Many customers are choosing to switch from RFID swipe card and fob clocking to biometric clocking.
The Citadel OB3000 clocking in terminal can be used for fingerprint (and thumb!) clocking as well as used with swipe card and PIN clocking if required, for maximum clocking flexibility.
Biometric fingerprint clocking is what most customers choose as it's a simple and convenient way to clock employees in and out.
This biometric fingerprint attendance system is an effective way to stop time fraud and buddy clocking. It also increases clocking accuracy. The uniqueness of fingerprints mean that staff physically can't clock in and out for each other.
The OB3000 fingerprint clocking terminal also has a store and forward capability. The unit can be taken out on-site, employees clocked in and out. Go back to base and the clocking terminal sends the data via WiFi or a network connection to your Citadel cloud account.
Enrolling employees on the Citadel fingerprint clocking system
To set up an employee on the clocking system, an administrator registers their fingerprint or prints, (including thumbprints), using the scanner on the OB3000 biometric clocking in machine. The Citadel time attendance software creates unique codes related to the prints. The code or codes are then stored on the Citadel system.
When the employee clocks in to the Citadel system, the live scanned print is compared to the stored code, when matched, the member of staff is presses clock in, clock out or clock for breaks on screen. The fingerprints themselves aren’t stored on the Citadel system which means there are no privacy issues for staff to be concerned about. Their prints can't be re-created from the stored code
Setting up your biometric attendance system
It's often a good idea to inform staff about how biometric clocking terminals work when installing a new attendance system, so they don't have any worries about personal privacy issues.
